Her actual birthday and her birthday party were about week apart. I got her a bunch of Peppa Pig stuff on her birthday. Before the party she comes to me showing me this catalog of some toy or another and asks me if I can get her those toys. I tell her that she already opened all the gifts that I had gotten her and she goes, " Yeah but that was for my birthday, this is for the birthday party".

I think she's beginning to understand she's an only child.

I remember shortly after when Hurricane Rita was on a collision course with the Houston area. There was widespread panic which caused the largest evacuation in the history of the United States. I drove 4 miles in 2 hours. When I finally got to the freeway, it was like a scene out of Independence Day. I figured, might as well wait this one out at home.
