I guess I feel good that I look like I am in my early 20s. I'm actually 31. I plan to keep the desk just as I plan to keep the workbench and shelves I made in my garage. I have a personal connection to things that I build with my own hands. I even sketched out all of my projects on graph paper lol

you don't look 31 at all!

And yes. things made with your own hands or family members' hands are important. My dresser is something my grandpa made for my grandma a half century ago. He was a carpenter. It is actually unfinished as he made it as a side-by-side with a bench. She wanted a "stacked" dresser, so he cut it apart, stacked both pieces together, and didn't finish the sides out of spite. I pulled out a drawer recently and saw his writing for measurements on the bottom of the drawer. He died a long time ago so it's like I still have a bit of him with me. It has dove-tailed drawers so I love it.
