Are you sure about the TV thing? My wife and are avid Amazon shoppers and have used the price guarantee very often, even for less than a dollar difference. From my understanding it used to be within a month and they lowered it to only items sold or sourced from Amazon within 7 days. It can also only be matched one time per item.

I bought a Bowflex last year for around $775 and price matched it after 3 days for $700. Then at 9 days in, it was listed at $450 so I called them and let them know I had pictures to show the damaged box and would be happy to disassemble it as much as possible and drop it off at UPS and order a new one, or we could just save everyone the hassle and they could give me the difference. Saved over $300 total!

But yeah I haven't seen any changes for their policy, that's really weird that you had trouble but glad your card services took care of you!
They just changed it in May I believe -- the rep wouldn't budge. I had previously had things adjusted with no problems as well -- shame. I think it's bad policy, especially if it's within a week and sold by Amazon.

You've had better luck than I did, then. I had the same problem as the original poster with a different item. I purchased a Moto 360 smartwatch for $180 and the next day they had lowered the price down to $130. It was shipped and sold by Amazon, so I contacted customer service and they would not reimburse me for the price difference. The person told me they only pricematch guarantee on TVs now, same as OP.

I was pissed so I emailed Jeff Bezos about it and yet another Amazon customer service rep contacted me with the same spiel. Sorry, but we only do it for TVs now thanks for being a loyal Amazon customer sorry we pissed you off. Meh.

Well damn, that's another reason in the column to stop shopping on Amazon and only use for price matching I guess. At least brick and mortar stores will still price match after several days -- even up to a month.

Since it's a little slow -- here's a tip that could be useful to some people. I just bought a treadmill on amazon, then two days later the price lowered by $68 (!!!!). Amazon refused to make an adjustment because they've changed their policy to only adjust for TVs. I did some googling, and it turns out that most major credit cards offer "price protection" -- so Discover is actually going to reimburse me the difference -- all I had to do was upload pdfs of my invoice, the new price page, and my credit card transaction
I  Discover
