Amtrak is pretty sketch in general. Hopefully you came out of that trip with both kidneys intact.It's fine!
P.S. - I just took a 35 hour Amtrak train ride that said it had wifi and it turned out that it actually did not, and they told us the wifi only works sometimes and is very sketchy even when it was working. So keep that in mind.
It was great! But I had a sleeper room. I think I would have jumped off the train if I'd just been in a regular seat.
I loved both of my long Amtrak trips as well. Sleeper only way to go if overnight. No wifi though.
