We clearly did not have the same experience. I was permanently emotionally damaged by mine. It was not cute. It killed 2 - 3 chicks every day until I found it hiding in the coop. I found it at night. In the country. With nothing but a cell phone flashlight. And I was cornered. So I killed it. And the next day, it had moved. So I killed it again. And the next day....same story. I killed it multiple times a day for three days before it really died. And I was cornered. In the dark. And it wasn't cute.

That is like...a horror movie! Ugh! I feels.

I don't live in the country but am surrounded by it and we have possums here. My worst encounter was one late, dark night when I took the trash out to the can which is right against the fence. I flipped back the lid, which hit the fence, startling the critter that was standing on it. This scared the living shit out of me because I had not noticed the critter until the lid hit the fence. Then the critter started running along the fence towards my open big garage door and I was all "hells no!". Because I was on the other side of a locked gate that blocked my outdoor path to my garage, I had to race the possum by running through the house so I could get the garage closed before it took cover in there. I did beat it, but I damn near killed myself in that race. I'm still traumatized.
