yes, that's how I darned them. But I went much wider, because I was worried that some of those stitches near the hole weren't stable enough. And I made more rows, so it was thicker than what she ended up with. The socks are the only really thick socks I have - I really like them . Same weight, I think, as the socks in the video (I actually got the yarn down in FL of all places - where such socks are totally not needed .

Using the same color yarn really made them look a LOT better than the mittens (they look messy).
