Wish they never fell through. The same could be said for Dokken, Queensryche, Testament, etc.. The rock/metal category just hasn't been the same since the late 80s. I'll trade Five Finger Wife Punch for the Dream Warriors any day of the week.
Testament, for all their personnel changes, at least stayed pretty dope throughout. Managed to replace Skolnick with some pretty great guitarists and didn't fall into the Megadeth trap of chasing other bands

that being said, metal is and has been pretty healthy for a couple of decades now, if you're willing to dig a little

Between eMpTyVee cockgobbling Nirvana and the music labels signing every band that had long hair and a drummer with two bass drums, by the end it was all played out. We needed a break for a bit, but I never thought the whole thing would go *poof* as fast as it did. Even Motley hung it up there for a while....

As for "modern" times, I've found exactly * 1 * new band I could really get in to: Black Veil Brides. And I'm pretty sure that's only because they openly admit they worship the ground Motley paved for them. They went all in with the look, stage show, etc., their first two albums. Thing is, they are actually a *better* band musically than Motley every will be - the little bastards can play their asses off.

Just memories of listening to the classics. I'll throw newer stuff on the playlists I make but 90% of it is still old Metallica, dokken, etc. my favorite newer band is probably Parkway Drive. I've tried to like From Ashes To New's stuff but it's got a linkin park vibe to it that I can't shake off. Flyleaf was good to me, talking to the old singer in person is probably one of my favorite memories, second to getting to shake Hetfield's hand and get him to sign a guitar. I'm got off track now but this brings back all kinds of memories.

Feeling pretty good about today. I met goal and finally organized the cords for my computer. Now it doesn't look like cable hell behind the desk. :zen:

The big thing that changed was the vocalist, for sure. You don't get an old Chuck Billy or Hetfield style anymore ever. Skeletonwitch, Municipal Waste, Red Fang, 3 Inches of Blood, Valiant Thorr etc. all have the riffs, though, independent of vocals. Not a lot of howlers anymore, for better or worse.
