So i did a study on connect the other day. it paid 70 cents and had a spot to enter your email for a year long study.. Except this year long study is not really a study. They want you to download an app on your phone and it will record your usage. If you use for phone for the amount of hours you stated you use per day you get tickets. Tickets which are then used for a lottery for $1000

How do you guys feel about studies that require app downloads like this? Especially for a whole year..

Sounds like they want free data because im sure only "one" person will get this lottery of $1000. while everyone else that does it will only get the initial 70cents

I would definitely not download anything that tracked me but then I am not on social media or anything either. I like my privacy.

1. I think the researcher/developer asks quite a bit, from what you described. Your observations make sense.

2. There are "tells" that researchers show action wise, that show me, I never have to consider their work.
I gambled for profit, 10+ years ago, and was somewhat successful [3 taxed jackpots]. If you study your casino table partners... they have "tells" too.

For example, if a researcher uses the words: "BRIEF, SHORT, EASY," etc. - while pay/time ratio, is too low.... it's manipulative. I would say the majority of low wage, high time demand work, usually includes manipulative, non accurate language.

If I see those words in a HIT title? I pass.

Another example: lottery bonuses are a flag, and a "tell" commonly that they are not going to pay all workers fairly and evenly.

I agree with your assessment about the provided work. Would pass.
