MTurk support reps are clueless about many things, including blocks. A few unlucky people have lost their accounts over nothing but an ill-timed combination of retake blocks by ignorant requesters, with or without automated nastygrams.

Was about 8 minutes for me. Definitely worth it with the bonus.

I did this as well, but nothing happened afterward. I just completed the rest of it, entered the completion code, and that was it--No mention of a bonus after that part. Odd.

Hypothetical speculation about particular examples is beside the point. The fact is that without a complete overhaul, transparent process, clear documentation, and support reps properly educated on the results thereof, no requester should ever use the built-in block system on any worker for any reason unless they think that worker did something so heinous that they deserve to potentially lose the ability to ever earn another cent on MTurk. Because in ways no requester, worker, or Amazon employee can accurately predict, that is sometimes the consequence.
