It occurs to me that you might want a darning egg? I actually have 3 (which is 2 too many .

I know you were thinking about trying another technique. But. I have a few extra and it might be useful?

stopped at a small community craft show this morning and so disappointed. No creativity anymore. It's all machine made. how many tumblers with cute sayings does one person need? Or wall plaques? so many of those at hobby lobby. keep making those socks, folks, before true crafting disappears.

Thanks for thinking of me. How much do you think postage would be?

Crafting/making can be an expensive past-time these days (unless you thrift your supplies) so that could explain some of it.

have you seen the cost of the machines they are using? people are making this stuff. it's just machine'd. it's not "created." and it shows. mass production all the way.

Yes, agreed. Guess I am focused on fiber/yarn. It costs a fortune and then you spend hours and few are willing to pay what would be a fair price.

Yep, it does cost a lot. i'm more into paper and I have one electronic machine for die cutting only. wouldn't mind that laser cutter that cuts strong chipboard for my bookmaking projects, but one look at the price put me off. i can buy the boards already cut. or ask home depot to kindly cut it. but it's the t-shirts, the mugs, the vinyl stuff coming out like something threw up at the party. why does anyone need all that stuff? t-shirts and mugs for school projects, little league, whatever, yes. but for everyday consumerism? the market is overrun. and you are right. it costs to be really creative. this stuff, the mugs and so on, isn't that expensive. so, it might sell. why spend a lot of time making something really creative that no one can afford to buy? one has to work one's market. i have friends in columbus who have two shops there where they sell unusual and difficult to find expensive and well crafted household need items. and one is a carpenter. they took some of my cards one time and sold them at their shop for three times more than I would have asked for. the cards sold. i didn't make anything because i donated them because the money went to their community cat project. but i was shocked. they have that kind of clientele. also, the fiber exhibition comes around here in the fall. they have lots of great quality handmade yarn and fiber projects that seem to sell quite well. as do also, the better arts and crafts shows.
