total newb question. just plugged my tv monitor into my computer via an hdmi cable and then went to settings on my desktop... my computer doesn't detect the tv monitor. am i missing something right in front of my face here?

Does your computer have a screen option on f4? I would try pressing that and it will give you options, to duplicate the screen or spread the screen.

What OS are you on? I use windows and in the display settings there is a choice like "extend this screen" or "duplicate." Also make sure the TV input is set to HDMI.
