There's actually not a ton of Federal research being done on MTurk. If you look at the details of many Wharton, UCLA, Noah Turk, most of those are private companies, endowments, or trusts. Koch, private tech companies, and private uni trusts are the top 3 I've seen.
While a shutdown would certainly have some impact on spending, it's not like Lauren Schatz or RTI is making everyone rich with twice-daily $45 studies funded with federal tax dollars.

Edit: Most of the surveys you will get are from companies, wanting to figure out how to sell more/better. It has nothing to do with federal government.

There's two types of main studies, academic and business. When you don't throw the ball to PandaThief @PandaThief , it might be an academic or psychology study on inclusion. Federal Government might have a grant for it.

But the vast majority of your product studies, machine learning/training/transcription are all private companies, wanting to better themselves.
Turkey Companies, Electronics, Insta and FB advertising etc will need guinea pigs.


What will impact more, imo, would be the independent contractor documentation requirements. That's significantly more strict than most requesters have ever been on filing, recording, issuing forms.

A US shutdown would have an impact on a global stage, but there's several big non-US batch posters, Geohives, FlyingFish, X8 all UK based, probably for tax reasons.

I personally would be very surprised if they passed the $600 law. It has people against it across party lines. Chamber of Commerce running ads against it.

The Yougov Poll had almost 80% of young people believing the IRS should focus more on the rich, and, anecdotally, you don't hear twitter, reddit, or social media calling for increased scrutiny on the poor, but more focus on the rich and the derivatives/tax-advantaged accounts that allow them to have a lower effective rate.
