I'm a worrier, too. Now, anyway. Never used to be. But I do need to have an emergency kit because of the Juan De Fuca Plate in Oregon. When that one goes off, they're expecting it to be a 9.0+ and it really freaks me out.

I've lived here 17 years, and have only had 2 emergency situations from EQs other than that you are right they are kind of fun when they are the shakey kind the rolling kind make me feel like I am sea sick

Does anyone know how much alcohol one should have in their emergency supplies? I'm going for a ratio of 15 gallons of booze for every gallon of water. Although my main worry is keeping the generator going so I could run a mini fridge to store cheesecake inside.

It kind of depends on whether you need it to avoid withdrawal symptoms, or whether you're you're trying to stockpile it to use for trade.

you probably should have close to...unlimited. that, egg shells and vinegar and a can and you have sterno.

I used to be a bit of a worrier about stuff like this.

Then my kid grew into being a massive worrier. And I had to become Zen Mommy or our house would be in chaos.

I also now drink a lot. It helps.

Given a post apocalyptic situation, I think I would be willing to break out of my stupor and use the extra booze as payment for the services and goods offered by other folks.
