I use UbuntuMate but I would not say I am experienced. I like the Ubuntu branch because even noobs like me can use it, and all questions are easily answered with a web search. But if I can help with a generic question I will.

depends on what you're looking for. we use Centos for our application servers at my job so i'm somewhat familiar with them. haven't done any real coding or programming on linux or BSD boxes in quite some time though.
