Well, because today is a holiday. Actually, when we lived in VA, the kids didn't have Columbus Day off, so apparently it's a regional thing.

Here they usually pick Columbus day or MLK Jr day, we dont get both. So we get MLK day off.

They get MLK Day here too. And Good Friday. LOL. The other holidays (like Presidents Day) usually fall on vacation weeks. Because they have one in February and one in April. I'd rather them have one Spring Break and get out a week earlier for summer, but whatever.
