Oh wow that is high, and young for that, I'm sorry that sounds awful. And thanks, I feel better now. :) I wish I saw this before I rambled lots more haha..I figured this probably didn't just suddenly start today, so I probably will last a little longer before meds, but my Dr, and the guy who took my b.p. had me freaked out. I was given atenolol for....i don'tknow what, an autonomic issue i think, didn't help, and I know it was a very small amt and when I took it I just couldn't not move, and also just didn't care that I couldn't move, it was like a horrible and depressing tranquilizer. Don't know if it's supposed to do that. But i hope not! And I hope that I'm getting something different this time.

o_O Something that makes me happy and peppy would be good. or maybe thats doughnuts. which probably isn't good for high bloodpressure.
g'nite for real :)
T. Leela @T. Leela , atenolol is a beta blocker, which means it works by controlling the electrical signals within your heart. It controls your heart beat...the higher the dose, the slower your heart beats.

Personally, even after years of taking it, it makes me tired. Since it controls heart beat, that means when you're doing anything strenuous, or even just cleaning or whatever...it doesn't really speed up like it should. So it makes you tired and sluggish. You're feeling that really strongly at a low dose, so you probably need the other kind (I can't think of what they're called right now) and maybe a diuretic.

Hypertension only happens suddenly when it's malignant, and that kind is incredibly dangerous/life threatening. You'd be in the hospital right now if they thought it was that. This likely happened over time.

You might want to try to find out the cause behind it, because if you can do anything to lower it without meds for the rest of your life, it's ideal. Mine is unusual-ish, because it was caused by one of my bio parents kicking me in the kidney a bunch of times when I was 8 or so. It "killed" that kidney, and the other one got bigger to compensate. That caused my blood pressure to permanently rise, and the rest is history...

Point tho, some people can lower it with less sodium, exercise, healthier eating etc. or some other way. You'll be fine if you just get those meds and find out what's going on

My wife was on a bunch of different beta blockers(at different times) before eventually getting her cardiac ablation. She had the same story with always being tired.
