It's using html instead of the forum bbcode. You have to use the [IMG] tags instead of the "img src=" stuff.
Like [IMG]https://i.imgur.com/hsUkkAt.jpg[/IMG]
[ img ] https://i.imgur.com/hsUkkAt.jpg [ /img ]
without the spaces between the brackets, or the word img

Is there any fix coming for using new avatars? Assuming it isn't just me. I've tried resizing pics/gifs and I still get the error message.
Yeah, it's because we still don't have https set up on here. You have to change https in whatever link you're trying to use to http.
