Nature in all her glory and harshness will always amaze me. Last year the deer were not showing themselves at this time. I missed the mating ritual. This year it was in front of me. I got pictures of three beautiful bucks that I'm afraid would make any hunter proud to ... well ... kill. The park deer are busy and safe as long as they stay in the park. I think gun season is over. But apparently there's still archery which goes on for awhile.
Monday I got a shock. Though they are wild animals and it is nature.
Through the camera lens were two doe. One larger animal, I call her Mildred, was in the lead of the smaller creature. The poor thing was hunched like a munchkin struggling to keep up with the larger beast. I followed them and found little Munchin to be in distress, holding her right front leg high as she struggled to followed elder Mildred. I put it on the FB parks photo page, no pictures though. No one wants to see animals in distress. But I asked for help because I was afraid the doe was injured and needed it. I got help. Thanks to those who care at the parks department. I suspected that deer care for their own and would either dismiss the injured animal or help her. Mildred was helping her. She led her back to the herd and into the fold. Poor thing struggled the whole way.
We met the gentlemen from the parks department yesterday morning in the park path. They identified Munchkin as a young animal injured the year before. In the time between then and now she healed, gave birth to a healthy fawn that she raised. And now? Well, it seems the "running" of the deer has exhausted her. She will be fine. She just needs rest from the hellians that have been chasing her.
Now, I don't have that problem. But there are times when I know how difficult it is to walk around that park. I do know the pain of struggling to get back to the car or "fold."
As I said, life is glorious and harsh often at the same time.

Well, it's a writing fandango. I took me nearly all the time, so don't wait around. Of course I'm slow, but I had a lot of pain(both in life and in this thing). They named it right....Still a twenty is worth it...as long as it pays.
