Oh I know. He loves to lay across my laptop when I walk away for a minute. He already gets the warmer spot at the end of the couch under the heat register. I usually don't mind except when I'm trying to work.

cats are pretty decent pets, actually.
they take care of most of their own stuff
playing with them can be amusing
and any company is better than a dirty shot glass you've been using to empty out your whiskey bottles, and you're not cleaning out your shotglasses frequently enough, and I think it's about time we had an intervention - but not about the alcohol, more about how you never wash your share of the dishes, and you leave them to pile up on the table and your bureau.

My ex ran an animal rescue, and it focused primarily on cats. In addition, we'd assist people every week in getting the pets spayed/neutered and also get them up to date on shots, for dirt cheap.

as a result, over the course of five years, I had more than probably 8000 different cats sleep on my bed at some point in time.

I also learned several methods for effectively catching feral cats, which resulted in overcompensation, which was realized when I accidentally caught two raccoons and a few possoms.
