The Friday after Thanksgiving is a state holiday in California, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia. Schools and universities are closed for the entire Thanksgiving weekend.

I just got used to having the whole Thanksgiving Weekend off, because ever since I was in Elementary School, that was the deal, in Tennessee.
No one wanted to recover from eating 5 pounds of Turkey and dressing and rush to work/school for literally 1 day, when the weekend was just SO CLOSE.

Plus the school attendance was always stupid low, and the teachers would take the day off cause their entire class wouldn't show up, and if only one child did, they sent them home, heh.
