Just tossed back a $4 hit. It was worth more than half of my PE for the day. So sad.

why does everyone hate loans/debt? Its just a part of life. I know people thatve been in community college for 10+ years because their literally paying for every class with their grocery store earnings. I just stare at them like "Thats not how any of this works!"
I don't like buying something unless I have the money for it, just my personal preference. I paid my way through school, no loans. I've never taken a loan out for a car, I've always saved money for what I needed. If I was in a position to where I absolutely had to take out a loan, I probably would, I just prefer not to. So far it's worked out pretty well, I live below my means and I have no debt.

I had a credit card once when I was 18, maxed it out and it took me forever to pay it off. Never again. lol

Depends on the rate, but one of the best investments you can make is not having a loan. Downside being waiting longer for the car. The rates look pretty low if you have good credit though.
:yesyes:

They are pretty low and I think I could get a pretty decent rate with my credit, but I rather not have to pay any interest at all.

IMO interest is the most pointless thing to have to pay. I worked my way through college and avoided debt (but that was 20 years ago.)

I was shocked so many people tried talking my wife and I out of paying our house off this summer. They kept saying 'debt is just a part of life' and that we could use our huge chunk of money to buy a boat or something.

No, I would rather pay off the $48,000 27 years early and avoid the $152,000 in interest over the next 27 years.

Likewise, I would rather pull $20,000 out of an investment account earning 7% to buy a car instead of taking out a loan and paying 10%+

Everyone is facing a different situation, though, but I personally would rather go without than pay some bank CEO free money.

paying interest is the devil.
I got this 20 yr old convertible last month, no loan, so great not making payments. Then a tire blows. then another tire blows, then the battery dies. Then this light keeps coming on, my daughter rips the back 'window'....anyway I am so glad at all this interest I am saving.

From the greasy fork page for Hit Finder:

Pushbullet.
In order to use this, you will need to get an access token. To do this, go https://www.pushbullet.com/ and register. Once you complete that, go to https://www.pushbullet.com/#settings, create and access token and then copy that into the advanced settings section and hit save. You only get 500 pushes a month with a free account, and HIT Finder will only send a push for the same HIT once every 15 minutes.

I understand taking out loans for school if needed but it's nice if you can save as much as you can for a new car. We had to buy one without a large down payment because we hit an animal and it sucks to have a loan. My parents buy all their cars with cash.

Wow. props for that. I generally feel the same way about small stuff. I just can't imagine not taking out a loan for cars, education, house. Its amazing that u paid your way through school!

Eh, pick the car and play around with a calculator at paying off the loan over the course of a year or something instead of the usual length. http://www.finaid.org/calculators/scripts/loanpayments.cgi

If you can actually get a good rate then it's like $160 interest to get it a year early (on a $20k car). You'd just have to watch out for whatever fees.
