as kids we would get a empty coffee can and put dirt in it, then catch worms, put them in the can, put the lid on it, then go fishing. But nowadays kids don't leave the house, much less catch worms

My kids still do this.

( sadly, my kid has never done this. We've dug up worms to study, but not to use as bait.)
