Is it nice enough if I say "thanks for giving me your leftover cake but please go get me some beer too"? Or does it sound too much like what I really mean, which is "I need beer to deal with your continued presence and I'm still going to eat this cake, just angrily."

Eh, sort of. He lives in NYC and is usually just here on every other weekend. He's taking a month off from work and spending almost half of it here. Which would be fine if I didn't have to work while he's on vacation.
