Yeah, I didn't even see it coming. I was helping another customer at the time. They showed me the security tape later that night, though, and she like threw it right at me! Another inch or two to the right and I probably would have been out cold.

When I was 18, I was working in a record store around Christmas, on the register. A woman came in and tried to return a portable CD player that she had bought earlier that day and the manager wouldn't take it because she didn't have the packaging. She got so mad she threw the CD player at my head. It grazed my ear, then shattered against the wall behind me and pieces hit me in the back of the head. She was asked to leave.

Here's a thought: If you're a researcher and you can't pay the people taking your survey something at least approaching the federal minimum wage, maybe you haven't secured enough funding for your project yet. Perhaps you should ask one of the Nobel Prize recipients produced by your Top 50 global research university if they can fork over a few extra bucks so maybe I can keep a roof over my head.
