It definitely didn't take me 17 minutes. More like 10.
$12/hour is closer to acceptable (I take those all the time, but I still don't consider that 5/5, considering what our basic wages in general should be). Even still, bubble hells automatically get a point docked.

$50 for 100/20 is absolutely terrible. The most you should be paying is $30.

Google Fiber offers gigabit service for $70/month. That's 1000 down and up, according to their page. That's what happens when you have a company in the market that wants to be competitive, rather than trying to strangle you.

Even considering the greed of cable companies, I thought they'd at least be trying to make inroads with customers by this point. 3-4 years ago I saw that the cable companies' grasp via cable service was slipping, because of things like Sling TV and Pluto TV. Now Hulu has a similar service, Playstation Vue as well, and Amazon's doing similar things. I think I didn't take enough into account of the inertia of the short-term corporate mentality, and I go on about that all the time. All that means, though, is that once people start *really* running away from the big companies, they'll have less and less to offer, and will quickly have to go the route of massive giveaways and desperate attempts to woo back customers. Just going to be a couple of years later than I thought.
It's actually not, Google fiber is in what, 6 cities? Wishful thinking but nah, we either get fucked or we get fucked. $50 ain't bad for what it is.

I've had this problem with every cable provider we've used in the past 8 or so years. They CONSTANTLY are creeping up the bill. I don't feel like I should have to call and have a 40 minute haggle every single month when I very clearly signed for a service at a specific price. I hatehatehate cable companies and as soon as my father in law who HAS TO see every soccer game ever played anywhere in the world no longer lives with us, we're cutting the cord.
You could actually cut the cord now and keep that. Sling TV has every channel that regular cable has, and you can get most simply with the Orange + Blue combo (I think that's $40/month). Extra packages, other than the premium ones, are something like $5/month extra. The sports one has a ton of channels.

This is why the cable companies are about to hit a huge brick wall - they're still taking the short-term gain despite having an easy solution that extends their viability by at least a decade. They screw customers regularly. Even my Luddite mother is seriously considering dropping cable, buying all new TVs (she only still has CRTs), and getting some Rokus and Sling. Two to three years, the cable companies, even merged, are going to be in serious trouble.

Sling is great but the app fucks up too much for me.
On Xbox though....I don't know if it's different on other platforms.
