this means for a card that comes with a sign up bonus of 50,000 points, after so much spend in a few months, what I will do is get that card, do the required spend on it, get that bonus. use the bonus on a vacation or something, cancel the card. then in 2 years when the sign up bonus appears again rinse and repeat.
