Sounds familiar. When it's good it's good, and when it's not you do what you need to. I lost my last two great full-time jobs due to "business decisions" and nothing to do with me. That's when I decided it's just as safe or safer to not do those traditional jobs and just do my own thing. I have a good skill set and was working as a subcontractor recently, but quit that due to drama and lack of enough work. Now researching how to be the contractor myself and cut out the middle man. Love hanging out with you guys and turking for sure, but I don't think it's gonna pay the bills at this point.
After 19 years, I will be losing my job sometime later this year, spring if I'm lucky. It sucks. They will want to send me to a far away job in the corporation, but family reasons keep me here. I graduated, finally, from college this last winter and have 15 years experience as an electrician. And I am terrified of what's waiting on me out there. I reallllllly wanted to work from home (which is how I found mturk), but I just can not find a job working from home. Imagine that, you have to show up in person to work on electrical stuff and I have zero experience in anything else. So, I'll just mturk until I figure out something else.

Anyone know if there's a requester reviewer thing for Prolific as well? If not I just might try to figure out how to make one.
You can just email the company. There's a "contact us" button somewhere. A real human replied to my email.

You might be surprised what's out there, have you looked on Indeed.com? You're fairly rural if I remember right, and there are jobs posted now and again for low voltage technicians here in Iowa, so there might be similar things there too. Work out of your home and go on calls when needed. I'm looking into it more myself, let me know if you want a rambling PM tomorrow with ideas. I'm about off here for the night. :)

i know it’s the summer, but it does a feel a little slower compared to the last two summers I was working on mturk. this is just my view so far. i know other people who are still doing great
this is definitely slower than this time last summer, from my POV, because this is when I started and I was pulling $10-20 days with my same current life-expectations.

he says there are no wrong answers, to go with your gut

[I think that there are definitely wrong answers in this survey, and I'm not talking about the attention checks]

I think you misunderstood what I was asking. We have sites that we can review requester on for Mturk, I asked if there is something similar for Prolific surveys, not how to contact them.

for a second there, I read the title of the hit as "This is a short on life survey experience."

Yeah, b/c talking to people and worrying about cops is high on the list of things someone agoraphobic /anxiety-ridden can do.
I understand at least the anxiety part. I think there'll always be some form of online work, it just takes a lot of looking for. Mturk is one of the simpler ones is all. There's always tutoring (it's just a pain to find a decent place to actually advertise yourself) or some form of data entry, or transcription..

I'm at 962 HITS...sliding into 1000..so still new..bear with me, I'll probably ask a lot of dumb questions. I'm trying to figure out scripts right now. I tried to use HIT Scraper and totally panicked because I didn't know that the time would already be running out on some tasks before you got to them. I didn't have time to finish, so I panicked again, didn't know how to empty my queue and just clicked return on all of them. I'm assuming I didn't have to do all that..but I didn't know what to do. What if some of the HITS in your queue expire? When they are in your queue are you the only one who has access to do them?
