I don't think so? I've only ever had this pencil-shaped thing that was basically just rolled cardstock. idk if that's the same thing though

oh hey I have one of those. no idea how to use it. The pencil I have I think is just the stuff a colored pencil core is made out of, but without the color in it.

Okay, I just used it (I think it's called something like tortilla but I know that's not right word.) on a black oval I made, looks like it sorta does the same thing, just not as much. So it would probably take more work/layering to make it look right with that.

edit: I'm not exactly sure what my point was, I sorta forgot what I was going for. But whatever it was I was trying ot be helpful (in case it didn't seem like that.)

lol it was helpful because now I know there are better tools to shade. I couldn't get the one I have to work at all. also, I'm really curious to know what it's actually called and how close you were to the right word...

i dont know if yours came the same way since sometimes they change the packaging, but mine are like attached to some cardboard trays that you can take out

Mine was too. My original thought was HEY LETS PUT THEM ALL IN THIS RANDOM BAG AND CARRY IT AROUND. it... yeah it didn't work. Now they're just in the drawer until I figure out what to do.

Wish sells adorable pen bags that have those little elastic thingies that you slid an individual pen into. I know the way I phrased that makes no sense but I can't think of how else to put it
