The Rockets are all about taking the most efficient shots and playing offense at a rapid, high level. Why in the fuck would they want Carmelo?

In fact, unless he comes off the bench, why would any team take him at this point in his career?

Maybe he's just been going through a mid life crisis for the past... most of his career and maybe he's secretly still as good as he was when he first started. And maybe there's a coach out there that can help him get his shit together. And maybe since he's not getting that divorce anymore I don't think, maybe his head will be in a better place? Smarter minds than mind probably don't know the answers either and are reaching at this point cause of Lebron and the Warriors.

The thing that's weird to me is that every team that gets Carmelo expects a player that's basically not him. How many times have coaches thought he'd take better shots, pass more to make the offense flow and not demand so many touches?

And every time he plays the way he's always played. It'd be like someone recruiting me to another forum on the condition that I don't shitpost.

At some point people are who they are and you can't change them.

I was listening to a sports radio station yesterday and someone compared Carmelo as the Jay Cutler of the NBA in the sense that you’ll never win with him

I think they’re just desperate for anything. And Carmelo still has name appeal. Even though his play has dipped. Last season was the first season where he scored below 21 pts a game avg for a season. The thing is though, like you said, his style doesn’t really fit the Rockets rapid speed offense. So on paper it doesn’t look very promising.

I don’t know. I’m kind of in the boat of expecting GSW to win again so I guess why not throw shit in a blender and see what happens anyways. And Carmelo is that shit in the blender. Kind of like expecting a trainwreck but being okay with it since the outcome is just GSW winning anyways

The Rockets don't really play rapid speed anymore. Lots of iso ball, and waiting for Harden to do something stupid. I'd rather have the defense that Ariza brought at this point. Who knows, maybe Melo will drastically improve his 3 point shooting. I like the nickname shit in the blender though.

Yeah I rather have Ariza too rn. His shooting was terrible in the playoffs, but you could always count on his defense

I honestly didn’t expect Paul to work out as well as he did here before last season started. And I don’t expect Carmelo to work out very well here. So who knows. I’ll always be a Rockets fan. I just don’t have very high hopes for this one. Can’t teach old dog new tricks and Carmelo has been in the league for a long time now and he is who he is
