I get annoyed when people are like "Oh you take surveys" but also it's so hard to be like "I do a lot of diff things all day and sometimes make okayish money doing it. And don't have to wear pants." b/c people are like "what other kinds of things? Why are you qualified to look at surgery videos? How are you qualified to do X, Y, Z?"

I like the idea of homemade ones. The store bought ones are usually too sweet for my tastes.

Don't feel too bad. It's probably pretty subjective but... Most all of the processed foods just aren't very healthy so I don't think the kiddos were missing out.

I say I mostly do research for graduate students doing their thesis, but also do research/clickwork for bigger companies on a freelance basis...not entirely true maybe but better than 'i do swagbucks' lol

I usually say "stuff that can't be easily automated". If they ask for more then I just give actual examples from HITs I remember. I guess you could explain training HITs if they really question all that though.

I boiled it down to "I am a freelance contract worker for Amazon's website Mechanical Turk." Any further explanation confuses people. I've once showed my mom, for example, the work I do...and she asks incessant questions like you've described. "Why are you doing that?" "how can you do that?" "what made you answer X that way?" "but how is that answer correct?" etc

I've found people either get it or they don't - and most people don't - so it isn't worth my time to explain lol.

I don't feel bad. My kids had to suffer through delicious homemade everything! I have never eaten that kind of stuff and I think it shows after 64 years!
