I went to Mexico in 1980 for the Spanish class trip. Heart of Glass was playing on the radio all of the time, and I remember walking past a night club in Mexico City with the group during the day, and seeing and hearing a band inside practicing My Sharona. They were loud and kept doing the intro over and over trying to get it perfect. :)

I can't even listen to that song without hearing this in head instead....

can confirm ELO spaceship was cool....

Blondie 45rpm single sleeve for Heart of Glass was very inspirational to young boy as well...
When I'm looking for inspiration I look to the cover for The Cars "Candy-O".

only a few here will remember this.
but remember back in the 70s early 80s when you would go to the record store like a Grapevine or a Stax records or any mom n pop store that sold records, and you would try to make a decision on which one to get because you only had enough money to get just one

Then you would go home and tear the plastic wrap off< or not, some would leave it on and just tear the edge off as to save the album cover from getting crap all over it.

Then take the vinyl out and place that bad boy on your player, and jam away.

Then sometimes you would get an extra treat like a poster that was folded inside the album cover or a nice booklet with great concert photos of the band, or an album cover that you could open up and the inside would have a pop up design, the best one I saw of this kind was ELO's Out Of The Blue which was a spaceship.

and the best booklets I had were the ones from Kiss Alive and Kiss Alive II
Journey's Captured had a nice booklet and poster, and the most surprise poster I got in an album was one of DLR from the Van Halen Women and children first album.

long post but I was just reminiscing :)

i love it, and i never saw it, very kool
I still have those posters, albeit in poor condition. I went to art school and my major area of focus was printmaking. I have huge admiration for record inserts.

Which is why those posters make the price fucking explode on Ebay.
I'm about to list my RATT - Invasion of Your Privacy concert t-shirt on Ebay. A used one with holes sold for $75 recently, and good ones go for around $100. Mine is like new and I'm pretty sure never worn. Not sure since it's been so long. Still have the ticket stub to the concert, which isn't even mention on all of the concert date lists that I can find on the Internet. Sept 20, 1985...

Here is my current rotation. Unfortunately my stereo system is in boxes. I haven't had the time since the baby was born and after moving back to Texas to unload it.

Michael Jackson - Thriller first pressing

Bowie Aladdin Sane first pressing

One of the most underrated albums of all time. ALL. TIME.

"Frampton Comes Alive!? You were issued it if you lived in the suburbs. It came in the mail with free samples of Tide."

First American Pressing of Led Zeppelin I (Orange Letters) - I searched for two years for a high quality recording from this first batch.

There was a buy one get one free frame sale at Michael's a few weeks ago and I went fucking nuts.
Put the albums in generic blank sleeves so I could still listen to them.
