My new boss mentioned the name of our work website for employees (that has nothing to do with the name of the company) and I was like what? He said it again and I realized he was attempting to say Socrates. It wasn't even a mispronunciation that I have heard before.

I'm curious to know how he was saying it if it wasn't so-crates...

"So-crates" is how I tried to explain the book I needed for summer reading as a kid. I will never ever forget the pain of going to the library and asking just about everyone I could find:
"Where can I find aunty gone, by so crates?" (Antigone, Socrates)

Would it have been so hard to put a phonetic spelling on that dang list? Ann-Tig-Oh-Knee, Soccer-tease" Maybe that experience has something to do with why I went into the literature/writing field and got an expensive degree in it.

Oh he doesn't have clients. He just has to report to upper management, so I'm totally cool if he looks like a tool in front of them.
We have a really old machine repairman who is just dumb. This man mangles every sentence he speaks. My all-time favorite is when he was reading the paper and told everyone in the shop that "Patrick Swayzee died of Patriotic cancer!"
