Interesting. I knew in the South, they refer to most soda as Coke but I never hear pop around here anymore.

In your defense, there are actually recipes for vodka and coke on one of the bartender sites. add something else and you have a black russian, I think. Or a variation of the moscow mule. i can't remember. they also have recipes for vodka and root beer which sounds way worse than coke to me.

White Russians are so damn tasty, I just never have all the ingredients to make one.

Southern IN is so funny because we are such a mix. I'm super close to Louisville (grew up 15 min from there, it's considered part of the metro area) but we also have northern roots so it's a mix. My husband makes fun of me a lot when I say certain things. Like, the way I say "pants" to this day (20 years later) is the cutest thing ever to him.
