I wouldn't argue, since we're on the same side of the argument. I agreed.I'm not trying to start an argument, ...3 year olds can absolutely lie.

That article is mostly based on anecdotal evidence from parents/caregivers. Which is still how THEY see lying.3 year olds can absolutely lie, kids learn to lie around 3-4 years old even though they aren't trying to harm others by doing so.
ok. still didn't need you to start an argument about it. Obviously I know he didn't do it with malicious intent, he just wanted to watch TV. but whatevs. That article is mostly based on anecdotal evidence from parents/caregivers. Which is still how THEY see lying.
It's storytelling, and experimenting and learning with language. And seeing what boundaries they can push, and what limits are held firm. 'If I say ____ than ____ will happen' Not "I totally can see if I can trick mom into _____ b/c I'll say ____ happened." There's a much different cognitive force going on there- it's not "lying" no matter who CALLS it that. The PhD on his name is the same PhD on other sources that use cognitive information, not just anecdotal. That's not how their little brains work. And even that article points that out, even he says that it's NOT the same kind of "lying".

It's Monday, we're all tired and there's crabby after-holiday energy in the airI'm being way too pissy today. Sorry everyone. I'll be back when I'm in a better mood.
I was really interested in the results of this study when they came out.I'm not arguing. That article still said what I said
They didn't repo all the knowledge I absorbed when I had to leave school b/c my ex was "sick of babysitting"
There's a reason WHY I went to school for that, and I'm very passionate about it.
You are looking good, feeling good and the animals are getting along this is your day girl! You GUYS..my two cats are playing together..nicely!
They never play nicely. Aw.
The evolution of lying is pretty cool too. Because intentional lying requires imagination(psych's say), they look for the evolutionary steps before intentional lying, like the cuckoo finch and other animals that use deception for survival. Sorry. I'm a dork.I was really interested in the results of this study when they came out.

Just something that I thought was interesting about kids and lies. Not so much about proving when it starts but, the capacity for it and it's recognized usefulness as a skill to be used in acquiring things.
