Researching parts is the worst. There needs to be a relevant statistics summary in the world of PC hardware. I haven't built a PC since 2009-10. I haven't bought any components since 2012 when NVIDIA released the GTX 660. It was not a small amount of information I had to digest to get from "I need a new computer" to "I'm going to build this one"Yeah, the actual assembly of a PC is super easy; I like your "Lego's for adults" analogy.
Researching and choosing parts is definitely a bit trickier; you have to make sure all the parts want to play together on the same team before you assemble them for the big game.
