He was a man. A really old one, but an amazing story teller too. We lived in a 4 plex basically, and I used to sit on the front porch with him while he told stories that I didn't necessarily understand about some of his plights in Israel. There was a motorcycle involved in one of those stories wherein he was escaping from an adversary. He would gesture and pretend he was still on that bike. The only downside was that he could barely hear, so he needed some good listeners. Plus, he couldn't hear, so whatever he was listening to on television that night, well we were all listening to it. Great guy though. He died and his daughter came in and refused to renew anyone's lease. So many memories, sorry for carrying on.Some people just really love to be "offended" I think.
Was the landlord a dude or a chick? I'm laughing pretty hard imagining an Israeli dude calling everyone honey.

Yeah. I find people take offense for any number of reasons. All I was saying is that pronouns used to be used to simplify things. Not so much, any more. I'll call anyone, anything they'd like.I use whatever I'm asked to use. My friends that have asked that I use gender-neutral pronouns are not offended by someone for whom English is not a native language being confused, it's only when someone refuses to use the preferred pronoun that hurt or offense is taken.
Don't people realize that be offended is a choice tho?Yeah. I find people take offense for any number of reasons. All I was saying is that pronouns used to be used to simplify things. Not so much, any more. I'll call anyone, anything they'd like.
no, its ok. that's the point of conversations. The crux of the issue isn't that you don't know the gender of teh person its that they don't want to consider any particular gender. I don't look at this from the point of view of the person who wants to be considered genderless, i look at it from the point of view of someone who hasn't a clue what you are talking about who needs to be convinced to refer to you as you wish to be referred to in contrast to what that person has been taught their entire life.Sorry. Guess I should have stayed silent. :I
