Yep, tired all that - have precision tool set - have tried all the sizes and the 'rubber band' trick 0 afraid to smash too hard with hammer on screw - was ready just to break the case but that is such sloppy workmanship I don't know if I could live with myself afterward. . .

Drill deep enough to eliminate the head of the screw. Leave the shaft in the hole. Work in small steps.

Kind of works better if you have a power drill. :/

Have had to do that. Hope I don't have to do it with the ten vintage laptops I just got in a haul.

In case people are wondering why I haven't sold them, A) one of them works (I think most of the others can be fixed), 2) They're not worth as much money as people think and they sell slowly, and C) I'm a collector and I want to keep at least a few of them.

I will probably sell half or more if I get them all working.

it's definitely been a grind today but i'm gonna work another couple hours tonight and then tomorrow quite literally all day until I have to go to the airport around 4:30 Thursday morning. I know better than to try to sleep when I have to leave that early so why not grind and make some change my current PE is $13.64

Since some of you all talking about computer problems, I have a question. During an Inquisit hit about a month or so ago, on a fairly new laptop, it froze and I hit "escape" and then the screen went black. I just shut down the computer finally, but I could never get any display again. Do you think that coincidentally I need a new video card or Inquisit just corrupted some file?

I'd put my money on a corrupt file or setting somewhere that it screwed up. I'd be very very surprised if it was a hardware problem. Someone smarter than me around here can even come up with a fix, I bet. Stay tuned.

Inquisit is not the best software. I experienced a bunch of random issues with it the first few times I tried to use it and the clincher was when the security software on my work laptop decided it was a virus so .. buh bye Inquisit. HTML5 can be used to do exactly the same things that the inquisit tasks.. I'll shut up now..

Anyways.. my suggestion would be to plug in an external monitor and see what you get. You want to make sure the video card isn't dead and that's the best way to do so. If the external monitor works do whatever it takes to get Inquisit off your laptop. Worse comes to worse, you might try to restore but that really only works if you can get to the boot screen and enable whatever needs to be enabled to do a restore or repair.
