Since some of you all talking about computer problems, I have a question. During an Inquisit hit about a month or so ago, on a fairly new laptop, it froze and I hit "escape" and then the screen went black. I just shut down the computer finally, but I could never get any display again. Do you think that coincidentally I need a new video card or Inquisit just corrupted some file?
1) On most laptops, a "new video card" is not an option.
2) Wild guess the particular Inquisit script did something incredibly dumb with direct memory access or something.
3) Less likely but still possible, cosmic rays flipped two bits at once in VRAM. No, I am not kidding, though it's super rare.
4) Has it happened since? If not, I probably wouldn't worry.
5) If it happens again *in inquisit* there might be some incompatibility with some hinky thing they did and a driver for your hardware. Sucks but almost impossible to track down.

Edit: If you meant it didn't have video when you powered it back up, yeah, warranty issue if it has a warranty. It is not unheard of for software to damage hardware but inquisit and a laptop I would say almost impossible.

What make and model? Most laptops these days have graphics on the CPU itself.

Desperate for a dime to make my daily goal.
But I still won't:
Do a ton of writing for $0.40
anything p9r
any shopping receipts
100% agree. I never liked the shopping receipt ones anyways. I did p9r when I was trying to get my numbers up a couple years ago but once I was able to accept better hits I have avoided them like the plague. And writing drives me nuts. If we're gonna help students write their theses then we should at least get paid like some of those services get paid.

It had no video when I powered it back up.
It was an HP - unsure of model at the moment. Warranty up some time this month (and, of course, I can't find my paperwork!)
I ended up buying another computer, a realllly cheap one, so I can continue to work. (and I hate it)
I guess, if I can't find warranty paperwork, I should take it in to a computer repair shop and hope for the best?
Are you saying that video card doesn't exist, that it would be replacing CPU?
