1) On most laptops, a "new video card" is not an option.Since some of you all talking about computer problems, I have a question. During an Inquisit hit about a month or so ago, on a fairly new laptop, it froze and I hit "escape" and then the screen went black. I just shut down the computer finally, but I could never get any display again. Do you think that coincidentally I need a new video card or Inquisit just corrupted some file?
2) Wild guess the particular Inquisit script did something incredibly dumb with direct memory access or something.
3) Less likely but still possible, cosmic rays flipped two bits at once in VRAM. No, I am not kidding, though it's super rare.
4) Has it happened since? If not, I probably wouldn't worry.
5) If it happens again *in inquisit* there might be some incompatibility with some hinky thing they did and a driver for your hardware. Sucks but almost impossible to track down.
Edit: If you meant it didn't have video when you powered it back up, yeah, warranty issue if it has a warranty. It is not unheard of for software to damage hardware but inquisit and a laptop I would say almost impossible.
What make and model? Most laptops these days have graphics on the CPU itself.
