I'm thinking it gives Amazon two days to fix something if there is an issue between "approved" and "paid" status or else some requesters are deadbeats on paying once they approve, but I was under the impression they need to deposit money into a holding account to cover the fees of posting and payments to turkers.

Come to think of it, lately I've noticed several HITs will be ''approved'' and don't come to ''paid'' for a day or so. I wondered about that, too, since I thought that they were paid in advance, in order to be posted, and shouldn't take that long to cycle into ''paid''.....after a while you get to expect oddnesses on Mturk and don't think too much about it.
