The free version of Malwarebytes is lightweight (and fast).
Thanks. I thought of that and have it on the desktop so once this one gets working, I think I will see if it will install Malwarebytes. I actually have the paid version, which I don't think takes up that much room. I'll see if it will accept that one. If not then the free one.

depending on your surfing habits you can easily end up with viruses that most scanners will miss entirely or not be able to remove completely. That happened to me once years ago. My only option was a factory reset.
Thank you. That is my concern. I'm hoping the updates fix it. It came up and went on line. Last I remember it wouldn't do that and that was why I put it away - was tired of messing with it and needed it for school so had to have something reliable.

edit: I don't use it to replace Defender, but only as a supplement.
Ok this is probably super off topic, but I just tried opening windows defender, and it told me I had turned it off. When I go to the security section of my computer's settings, it shows that I have it 'on,' but it's all grayed out. How do I turn it actually on?

I believe so.... It's my own personal laptop. Also I'm now reading more about it, and I think the culprit is the free trial of mcafee that came preinstalled thanks to the company I bought this from -_-

yea thats probably it. uninstall macaffee if you don't want to use it. You can only have one antivirus at a time.

Thanks, I had no idea about only having one antivirus at a time. Makes sense though.

Yes, that's all I use it for as it catches things Norton doesn't but when I have to call norton for help that used to be the first thing they made me uninstall so as not to compromise norton but they have don't that so much lately so maybe they fixed that problem as so many people use it.

I've generally had better luck with international requesters than US-based ones.
Universities in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand often pay workers appropriately.

I've had occasion to write a lot of IRBs  (usually not on my own account).
IRBs in the UK are responsive, compared with most US institutions (not to mention criminal IRBs like Cornell and U. Minnesota).

Amazon no longer allows international requesters, unless they're affiliated with a US-based account.
That's why we see some of the MTurk Data surveys, and collaborations with US universities.
With that said, and given what we have found out today, are you confident in them being able to return?

First day at my "volunteer until it may pay" job today and I thoroughly enjoyed it. So, I told them I'd stick around until we complete 1 auction and see how it goes before deciding - no hard feeling either way if things don't work out (this is a new business venture.) I'll just be going in 1-2x a week and bringing some of the odder/smaller things home to do. Hopefully it won't cut into turking much.
