Most researchers conduct their surveys anonymously and do not have records of your earnings to turn over to the government - if they wanted to. Amazon will only get involved if you make more than $20,000 in a single year.

So when you file your taxes and show the government what you made they have virtually no way of disputing it. They are saying 'Wow! Free money!'

Moral of the story? Don't stress out quite so much on if you are filing your taxes properly when it comes to turk earnings. It is virtually impossible for the Feds to audit them. I'm sure they hope that us workers are honest in our reporting, but they have no way of confirming what you made. (without a subpoena to Amazon, which is unlikely.)
