Everyone started out making next to nothing. The people who do well on MTurk are the ones who don't think about it on a per job, or even a daily basis. Those people realize that learning how to PandA, or doing low/no pay qual HITs, or setting up HM all have value, even though it doesn't show right away on your PE. Patience and remaining calm, during both good and bad times, are 2 skills that will make this "job" something that you can live off. During your probationary period, you aren't supposed to be making much money because you are learning how to make money. If you focus on learning, so that you are ready to go HAM when probation is over, then you've used probation wisely.

This is so true. I worked on p9r almost exclusively while I was trying to get my first 5000 hits and consoled myself with the notion that at least I was improving my typing skills. And believe me, my typing skills are much improved thanks to that requester. They also gave me 6 rejections. I exercised my typing skills further by messaging them with disapproving messages while continuing to work for them. The whole time though, I was learning how to do other things and picking up other skills. I'm not saying I'm an expert at this, but I do have some level of comfort with my learning curve. Every day offers a new opportunity to learn or gain a new qual.
