Food Stamps are so nice when you need them, but they make you jump through so many hoops.
I get angry when people say we should drug test people who want food stamps or that those people must be lazy.
If they ever had to apply , they would know how hard it is.

The system is a mess and it's so difficult for people who really need/deserve help to get it.

I'm not on food stamps, but when I was 19, an injury left me paralyzed from the waist down. I can not even begin to tell you how many hoops I have to jump through (pun intended) to get even the most basic things or what lengths I need to go to to prove I'm disabled. Like, HELLO! lol I take a lot of it in stride, but it can be so frustrating to see how messed up the system is. Don't even get me started on Social Security and how it basically forces you not to work/to never accumulate any savings! The system needs some kind of overhaul but I wouldn't even know where to begin.

I've already sent them a letter and called them telling them it's not how this works but they won't listen. At least now I don't have to worry about stopping when I hit some random amount they pick out of their butts now and can just work everyday!

I had the same problem when I applied for SNAP when I lived in MS. Not sure if it's the same as AL SNAP, but the people on the phone are... shall we say special? I had to physically go down to the office and wait to talk to the person in charge of my case and explain how Mturk worked. I explained it as I'm a self employed and that I work virtually from home for different people everyday as it just depends on what work I can find online. However, Amazon Mturk was the main place that I found work as there are thousands of companies that post work everyday and whoever grabs it first gets the "micro job". I could provide statements for how much I earned, but I did not have the people's info that I did the jobs for as it could literally be a hundred different people a day and can change everyday. After I explained everything, she just looked at me and said "Well you make below the minimum and that just sounds too complicated so I'm just going to say you're unemployed and if you ever start making more through another employer then you need to update us. You honestly shouldn't have reported this income as it just complicates things." Made no sense because I thought they wanted you to be honest about all income, but whatever...Hope this info helps.
