Nah, if you aren't running a PANDA on Turkmaster there are still several ways to catch stuff.

If it's a big batch that's got thousands of HITs in it, you can just open the HITs up and accept them manually. Some batches go down so slowly, or have such short timers, that PANDA'ing them isn't entirely feasible or necessary.

For batches that have to be chased around, you can manually refresh the Preview and Accept link. It's slower, but it still works sometimes.

And then there's always just plain dumb luck, stumbling on something while you're searching on Mturk.

But because so many people use Turkmaster and PANDA links, you're competing against people who are much faster than you are manually, which is why running PANDAs is still the easiest way to get stuff.

Also, try observing which requesters drop batches that you like doing and put them into your Hit Monitor. Get alerts to your email/phone and never miss a batch again.

Or the hoard script. Back in the Mountain days I would set that bad boy off before doing a panda. (much faster than going through the steps to set up a panda in TM for me.)

I've been setting up Panda's for stuff in TM as I find stuff I like to do that's quick (and I'm still working towards 500 hits, so most of them are stuff like business card transcription or screening images for adult content type stuff), and using HS when those don't seem to have anything going. I don't have alot of time to turk so I'm really trying to get efficient when I DO have time.
