This is one of the Great Mysteries of Amazon Mechanical Turk. The tl;dr is who knows. He might never get accepted. He might get accepted at a later date.

The long version is that MTurk was originally open to the whole world. Mid-July 2012, they started only accepting American applicants and rejecting everyone else. Then in March of this year, they started sending invitations to previously rejected international applicants. And also, some new international applicants were being accepted. But this hasn't been consistent. As you just learned, some international applicants are still being rejected. So, who knows. There's nothing much your friend can do but wait and hope for an invitation email one day.

Another weird thing.. I was logged in to my .edu Amazon account, and accidently opened MTurk. They provided me a MTurk account without going through the whole process. It had no hits on it and a new number. Sometimes Mturk is just crazy.

Yeah, I was logged in to Amazon for some shopping with prime since it's linked to my .edu account. Normally I have a gmail account that I use with MTurk. Randomly opened mturk without thinking and freaked out when it said I had no money or hits history.

This one from yesterday....I spent forever on it, then they said I didn't qualify to move on, no pay, I don't get it, anyone have luck with it? It let me accept it again...dunno if I want to bother, but $5 would be nice: Name these objects and watch how people sketch them!

Couldn't even get it to start when I caught it yesterday so returned it. But looking at their TO, it sounds like we're all better off doing something other than that one.

Thanks, didn't even look at TO...and yeah my laptop really only works right in safe mode currently but wouldn't let me bypass security whatevers (which should have been a hint right there), had to restart in 'normal' mode which means 1/2 hours for browser to even load, then had to try another, and finally got it to work...for nothing...
