So much for plans of turking tonight. 6y/o came over to tell me how much she loves me and decided to put her hands on the table as she jumped up and down (something she's been told not to do at least ten times just today). Of course she slipped and of course she knocked my mostly empty coffee cup across the table and into my laptop. No idea yet what damage was done but I'm hiding in the bathroom after cleaning it up trying not to cry and scream in frustration.
put it inside a huge bag with rice, do not turn it on, let it sit for a couple days, might be okay

seconded

if its on, turn that shit off immediately

good chance the keyboard will need to be replaced but that's ezpz and cheap, but you want to avoid any sort of rust or residual moisture

Managed to get up to just over $3 with the grocery hits. All while cursing at this stupid school portal for the new school which will not allow me to log on. *slams head into desk repeatedly*

That's what I'm doing. If it's dead, I'm screwed cos we can't afford to replace it and without being able to Turk, who knows how long it will be til I can.

It's strange, but if I were that kid (and it was 30 years ago) I know exactly what would have happened to me.

nothing. because we didn't have laptops back then.

but realistically, my dad would have hit me once or twice with the belt for not listening about jumping near the table. then I would cry myself to sleep. interestingly, yesterday while my 7 year old and I were out hunting pokemon, she dropped my phone. I immediately told myself not to yell. she looked at me like she didn't know what to do (i've only yelled at her twice in her life) and I said, "are you ok? you almost tripped on your flipflop" then I looked down at the phone and said "well, let's see if this phone case works.." it landed screen down in the parking lot.

...to be continued in a later post - I need to run to the store.

Not you.

Side note: I stood in an anthill trying to catch a ghastly. This did not work out well for me.
But I'm so cute and sweet. I'm like a tiny, little bunny.

if you have a local computer shop, after a couple of days in the rice if anything seems wrong, you may want to bring it there and have them just open it and look at it. Most places will diagnose stuff for free or little cost. There are a lot of fixable problems that cost much less than replacing the whole thing. Chances are any damage will be to particular parts and not an entire failure.
