Fast writing.
A+ movie reference right there.Right, like Ubik.
(Which I recently tried to remind a friend of mine who read it years ago of the basic plot and felt like I was on the edge of the desert with the drugs beginning to take hold.)

Its probably not what you do when your 20 but something you'll do instead of dying. And we are a long way from being able to either transplant a human brain into a machine or download a consciousness into a computer. I would imagine that sensory technology and cameras will have gone though major transformations by then. The whole idea of transhumanism is so tragically solipsistic. I love the feel of wind and sunlight on my skin... and most cameras are still way inferior to our eyes, especially in the dynamic range... the idea of disconnecting from my body and living an existence filled with induced approximations of sense seems kind of a step backward to me.
And then... think about what happens when your body becomes hardware... think about corrupt corporations and the government... I mean... I cannot possibly imagine a scenario that could be more easily and more completely abused...
what about ano they do not. I think the operative word is "real" boats in the instructions
That book was incredible.... terrifying and bone chillingly incredible...Right, like Ubik.

what about this ...I just went from this
To this
Not all roses and butterflies
That'd be great, I could see this thing right up close.imaging being a submersible exploring the bottom of the ocean instead of just piloting one.
Or this little guy. That'd be great, I could see this thing right up close.

now the question of how these transhumans are treated by the government would be interesting. There would be two types in the beginning. Super rich people who would fix the laws to protect their new bodies. and then there would be the poor bastards who have nothing and volunteer to be downloaded into machines that are sent to work on Venus. They might be considered property.
