You're right about filing jointly. That's all they should need from our dad/stepmom. Is it possible they want your mother's tax return?
That doesn't make sense...I don't live with her, nor does she have anything to do with my financial support since she earns less than 25k a year.

"Forum technical question." If I think to post something here -- maybe quoted someone and started a 'reply' -- then change my mind, how can I be sure it doesn't post. Deleting everything hasn't worked in the past, for me.

But it has both of their names on it, and they're still requesting a separate return?
Joint taxes DOES mean one return, right?
Yep. Then maybe they didn't see both names. Did they both sign the return you have (even if it's an electronic signature)? If so, then your school is being wonky. There IS no other return afaik.

Yes.
Double yes. I'm still on hold with them to try and figure this shit out, but they close at 5:15 and they're not picking up at all.
They're also asking for MY taxes, which they told me in person they didn't need because it was already accounted for in the FAFSA, and linked directly to the IRS.

I had to provide all of my parent's (four of them) information for years after I moved out and was supporting myself. the fafsa was a pain in the ass until I was on my own by their rules. I actually had to quit school until that time because they weren't paying a dime and I couldn't get fa, so I had to wait until I was legally considered on my own.

Hey, married peeps, can someone explain to me how joint taxes work?
I submitted my dad's joint tax forms but my school's still requesting my stepmom's taxes separately? To me, this makes no goddamn sense, because they filed together, right?
Is that not how joint taxes work?
I am no tax expert! If they filed jointly, you should see your step mom's name on it and her income if any and it should say "married, filing jointly" somewhere. Your dad could have chosen married, filing separately. In that case, there would be two tax forms they need, one from her and one from him. The only other thing I can think of is that they might want your bio mom's return if you have one. Otherwise, the school may be totally confused or mistaken.

Good luck!

I just got the Soluto hit and connected with someone already. We had a great connection on both sides but apparently they don't know the UCID. Not sure if it's survey content but it's just an ID they need to know.

So what are we going to put in place of the UCID number? Blank?

It's creepy af when a survey knows precisely where you live...without asking for any of that identifying information. And then at the end asks for your zip code anyway, like they had no clue where you were to begin with :tinfoil:

When I change my mind, I just erase what I have put in the text box and replace it with a period, or a "nothing to see here". It stays in the text box which is annoying and makes me feel like I've forgotten something, but I understand your fear that it might post accidentally.

Strange.
Last year, my dad and step mom were married, and I had no problems like this. My bio mom wasn't required because I'm not her dependent in any way, shape, or form.
I'm actually gonna kill something if I don't stop hearing this mediocre jazz band music soon.

Oh is that what's been going on? The person I connected to said she could give me program number instead so that's what I used. Off topic though, I had a cute caller. She didn't know what she needed to do and I actually had to tell her what information she needed from me.
