My oldest son is 21 (oldest daughter 23). Since you say wife you might be older than him (gasp, I hope, I'm not ready for grandkids. Or even kids in laws). My youngest son is 12!

You should keep the desk and move it with you. My son loves the fact that he's using a desk his father built about 30 years ago. I'm glad I have schlepped that thing around with me for 20 years now. His father "lent" it to me 20 years ago cuz I was poor and in college. Now it's mine! lol.

I guess I feel good that I look like I am in my early 20s. I'm actually 31. I plan to keep the desk just as I plan to keep the workbench and shelves I made in my garage. I have a personal connection to things that I build with my own hands. I even sketched out all of my projects on graph paper lol

So my modular desk setup:

It looks low rent as hell... But I use 3 TableMate tables (like the U shaped sideways food tables, for around a couch?). These are all adjustable height and angle, lightweight, and easy to slide from one room to the next with just a little strength.

One one, I put the laptop, max height, with fan cooler platform under it. This angle is good ergo for neck (with laptops, we crane our vision down to monitor). The other two, one underneath laptop, for keyboard, the 3rd on the side for wireless mouse.

I have an office with a desk, but this, with an extension cord, let's me work anywhere here. Like right by my sliding glass back door, looking at the horse pasture across my back lawn
